A couple of male Eclectus parrots in the bird sanctuary of the Port Douglas Rainforest Habitat, northeastern Australia. I wasn't sure whether they were being friendly to each other, or trying to establish who was more dominant.

Eclectus parrots are generally classified among the top three parrots for talking ability. Rivaling the African Grey and the talking Amazon parrots in clarity of speech and scope of vocabulary, they not only repeat many words and phrases but some learn entire songs. One male could sing "You ain't Nuthin' but a Hound Dog" from start to finish!

Eclectus parrots enjoy repeating interesting sounds as well as words and phrases learned from their human companions. Many Eclectus owners have been fooled by phantom doorbells, running water, and family members talking in absentia.

When I was a teen, a friend's father had one of the more talkative mina birds. It was always opening the back door and calling the dogs in his voice and would then shut up when they appeared. He like to call the horses for supper, too. It was pretty funny. He'd have the dogs and horses gathered around his cage, which was quite large, by the back door. :D
